Where to start...
How about with a warm friendly hello and welcome! My name is Leesa and here is a little bit of background on me.
I grew up in western Queensland, Australia on a cattle farm that my parents owned and ran, I guess you could say that this is where I got my fascination and love for all things nature and my love for animals from. In our family my parents brought us up to be individuals and to choose our own paths in life be it religion, hobbies, favourite subjects in school and our own likes and dislikes. BUT we still had our boundaries and woe and be told if we crossed them. Through this upbringing I discovered the arts. Being in a rural setting it was hard to find any teacher, supplies or groups to join with the interest of the arts in mind, but this didn't stop me, my mother would always say ''Use your imagination, try doing it differently. When we were growing up we had no money, but we used our imagination" and that is what I did. We had no paints, so we would use the ochre in our soils, food colouring (when mum wasn't looking) and other items we found around the place. That is why in a few of my pieces you will notice I have used other utensils from around the house instead of just plain old brushes.
When I was 10 I received my first camera, and I took this camera EVERYWHERE with me, I thought it was a great invention that could capture stories and the beauty of nature in her glory. Nothing was safe from my lense, the dogs, the cats, the birds, my sisters, my parents and cousins. I have been through many cameras since then and now choose to use my Nikon D3100 as my weapon of choice (or i-phone if my Nikon is not handy).
As far as my personal life goes, well, I am a happily married woman who currently resides in the outskirts of Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia. I have a career in Child Care caring for and educating children from the ages of 6 weeks to 12 years. I am currently studying my Bachelor of Early Childhood at University and find every little bit of it fascinating. In my spare time I enjoy the arts, tending to our garden, cooking, travelling and gaining as much life experience in as many areas as I can.
